Edward L. Jones

I am Edward L. Jones, Professor, Department of Computer and Information Sciences. I earned the Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1984. I have been teaching in higher education for over 30 years, either full time or as an adjunct. My first full-time position was with Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina in 1981, followed by 13 years as a software engineer for Harris Corportation. I began at FAMU in 1994 as the Harris Corporation Visitng Professor, and was appointed to the tenure track faculty in 1998. I am past CIS Department chair (2001-2012), and former Director of the FAMU Center for Secure Computing and Information Assurance (FCSCIA).

I have a number of research interests in software engineering--software testing, project management, test-driven specification--and in computer science education--multimedia learning resource capture and dissemination, active learning, computational methods for science education, automated drills for programming and debugging, and automated program grading. Additional interests include technology transfer and information assurance.
