Yili Tseng
I am Dr. Yili Tseng, visiting assistant professor at Department of Computer and Information Sciences. I just received Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from University of Central Florida in December 2000 and joined the CIS faculty in August 2001. My specialty lies in parallel processing, high-performance computing, database, and operating system. My Ph.D. dissertation performed a complete investigation of the termination detection problem in parallel and distributed computing and provides optimal solutions in both software and hardware. In the past, I have acted as a research assistant for two years at Institute of Simulation and Training (IST), an independent research institute of University of Central Florida, based on both my computer and mechanical background. I worked on a F-16 fighter simulator project and a database management system processing U.S. Army armored troop maneuver data for one year respectively. Later, I have put my knowledge learned from school into practical usages and developed several DBMSs and related applications for a few Orlando, FL based business, including two travel agents, a medical laser research and manufacturing company, and a medical center.

I come from a family of teachers in Taiwan. All my families are or have been teachers. Naturally I understand the important role played by teachers well and enjoy teaching activities. However, I am also enthusiastic in research works. Although my current research focuses on parallel processing and high-performance computing, my interests are never limited to those. I am confident that I can achieve decent research results through my potential and determination.
