Usha Chandra
I am Usha Chandra, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX in 1986. My M.S and B.S degrees are in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from University of Madras, Chennai, India. I worked as a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science at Florida State University during 1987 and as a postdoctoral research associate with the Supercomputer Computations Research Institute during 1988-1989. I worked as a systems programmer with the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services during 1990-1992. Then I joined the Department of Computer and Information Sciences as a visiting assistant professor in 1992 and have been tenured and promoted to Associate Professor since then. During this period, I have participated and obtained two grants as CO-PI totaling about $2 million. I have directed and graduated three master's students and have served as a committee ember on six other students thesis committee. I have also been an active referee for IEEE Computer magazine since 1990 and have published and presented in regional and international conferences. My research interests include computer performance prediction, distributed systems and data engineering. I have taught a variety of courses in the areas of programming languages, computer concepts, computer systems architecture, fundamentals of web programming and software project management.
