A) Select a data base from the DB textbook literature and model it as semi-structured data

Notes: Choose an example with at least 10 data elements and two or more record types.

Examples abound in standard database texts.

 

B) Submit six Power Point slides (as .ppt file) by e-mail to riggs@cis.famu.edu:

  1. Diagram the original DB. Show the data.  (cf model source text.)
  2. Diagram DB as semi-structured graph  (cf text page 15)
  3. Explain method of translation. (what goes to what?)
  4. List any problems, omissions or limitations (or say NONE).
  5. Show the serial form of the semi-structured representation of the DB. (cf text p. 11)
  6. List the reference (text, author, page).
